Many of our children have moved to Minneapolis from overseas, so we work hard to provide curriculum and teaching that will be understood even for those with beginning level English skills.
In preparation for Easter, we will be celebrating a Seder Meal as a family in the Children's church. What we traditionally call "Maunday Thursday" during the week of Easter is our remembering of Jesus celebrating Passover with his 12 disciples. When we talk about Jesus's Last Supper, we are also getting a glimpse of a part of the Passover feast. There are a lot of connections between who Jesus is to those who believe, and the symbols in the Passover feast.
Jr. Church @ SVC
Do you want your child to grow in a basic understanding of what it means to know Jesus?
Through songs, Bible lessons, hands-on activities, and solid Biblical curriculum your child will grow in both knowledge and experience of core truths as well as better understand what it means to have a relationship with Christ.
Sunday School - Ages 5 - 13
Our Current series looks at how Bible stories and Bible Characters exhibited these three characteristics:
• Diligence—Focusing on the work God has given me
• Faithfulness—Staying true to God and his purpose for me
• Gratitude—Expressing thanks no matter how I feel
Teen Small Group - Alternating Sundays - Ages 13-18
Prophetic Personalities Course
Jacquelina Hui-Chung Lim
Jacquelina is a fresh gradute in Child Psychology from UMN. Being the second oldest amongst her siblings and cousins, educating children has always been her passion. As an extrovert and someone with an excessive amount of energy, it is almost necessery to have children as a buffer to not make her interactions with normal energized humans overwhelming. When she's not with children, she enjoys hanging out with people and doing fun activites like playing board games, rock climbing, cycling, hiking, camping, but never ask her to go on a run; she greatly dislikes running and will gladly walk with you.
Christian Education Director
Gretchen came to SVC in 2009 and loves finding creative ways to help kids connect with God, whether that be putting on a Bible play the kids write or making rainbow cookies together to celebrate God's great promise to all people.
With extensive travel experience and time teaching English in Asia Gretchen is well prepared to lead our very multi-cultural children's ministry.
Children are our future and a 'gift from the Lord' to be treasured. -Psalm 127:3
